University of Nottingham Futsal produced an impressive performance on Sunday, to earn a 9-1 win at the David Ross Sports Village against Kettering Futsal Club, in the first fixture of 2018 in the FA National League.
University of Nottingham Futsal took the lead through a counter attack finished by Ryon Leyshon after nine minutes, and was quickly extended to 2-0 by Jonathan Alvarez Olieff with a well taken team goal. Kettering created opportunities, and despite Dylan Malpas making a number of high quality stops, responded through Curtis Mason scoring from a corner kick. University of Nottingham Futsal continued to dominate possession, and before half time increased their lead to 3-1 through Tom Gascoyne.
Following the half time interval, University of Nottingham Futsal found their rhythm scoring four goals in five minutes from Jonathan Alvarez Olieff, Joe Kenny, Olly Whaley and Tom O’Sullivan for 7-1. The game concluded with another goal for both Olly Whaley and Joe Kenny in the closing stages for a 9-1 final score.
University of Nottingham Futsal were without top scorer Pav Tomczak and new signing Connor Woodworth, but awarded debuts to Joe Kenny, Adam Oldham and 16 year old, Zak Brunt.
The two teams meet again on Sunday 21st January at Moulton College.
