VARSITY PREVIEW: UoN Set to Host Historic Varsity Futsal Event

University of Nottingham Futsal provide some insight ahead of the #NottsVarsity2019 Futsal event taking place on Thursday 4th April at David Ross Sports Village between University of Nottingham & Nottingham Trent University.

Entry will open at 5pm with the Women’s Futsal match kick off at 6pm and the Men’s at 8.30pm. Tickets can still be purchased online or on the door.

University of Nottingham 2018-2019
The University of Nottingham have become an outstanding institution for Futsal over recent years which has led them to their most successful years ever back to back. Gaining promotion from Tier 1A last season and this season an unprecedented top 4 team in Britain, gaining qualification for European Universities Futsal Championships, FA Cup Finals at St George’s Park and currently unbeaten in the FA National Futsal League. University of Nottingham beat Nottingham Trent University on both occasions this season in the BUCS League.

Squad Announcement
The University of Nottingham Futsal squad features an all English line up from across the club’s four British Colleges and Universities Sport (BUCS) teams this season. The squad features five University of Nottingham Futsal student committee club presidents from past and present with Dan Slater, Sam McGrath, Danny Edwards, Tom Goss and newly elected Elliot Cameron all selected. First year student Jared Rand returns from captaining the England Under 19 National Futsal Team at the UEFA U19 EURO Championships in Croatia to experience his first varsity. Scholars Jonathan Alvarez Olieff (c), Tom Gascoyne and Joe Payne are all included. The Varsity squad will see Rob Symes and Lewis Bonsell once again feature as part of the event following their performances for the first team this season. Whilst highly rated Nick Lane and 18 year old 4th team talent, Jacob Owen are also selected.
