University of Nottingham Futsal player, Chris Bright has been selected to represent the Wales Senior National Futsal Team at the Home Nations Futsal Tournament in December hosted by Northern Ireland in Newry.
Bright has been a valuable member of University of Nottingham Futsal featuring as part of the National League squad this season with consistent performances including a recent hat-trick against Liverpool Futsal Club at home.
The Home Nations Futsal Tournament will see Wales face England, Scotland and Northern Ireland between the 30th November and 2nd December. Wales have previously won the Home Nations Tournament when they hosted in 2016. England are reigning champions winning the Home Nations Tournament 2017 in Scotland.
Notably, Bright lives with Type 1 diabetes; a autoimmune disease that causes the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas to be destroyed, preventing the body from being able to produce enough insulin to adequately regulate blood glucose levels. About 10 per cent of people with diabetes in the UK have Type 1 diabetes and balancing the condition around sport can add significant complications regarding health management. However despite this Bright continues to excel as an ambassador and example to others.
